Question:
Had an ultra sound at gyno for another problem, saw enlarged bowels

I went in for a pap and check-up for excessive periods, they did an ultrasound and found a small cyst. She also commented that my bowels looked unusually large. She didn't seem concerned about it. However, should I be? Anyone else have this come up?    — missmollyk (posted on September 7, 2004)

This is funny that you had the same exact thing that happened to me. I went for my yearly well women check and because I was having pain on my right ovary area a ultasound was done, nothing was found, but the technician told me that I had large bowels, she didn't seem to think that they were any problem. I asked my surgeon about this, and he said in some cases people that have had the Gastric Bypass may have larger bowels, he did not really give me an answer, but I kinda understood, because our stomach does not disolve the food that is chewed by us, if there is any work disolving the food it is done in the bowels, made sense to me, but I may have misunderstood what he was telling me. That also explained why I am so much more gassy then before surgery. If you find out something else, please let me know. My surgeon did not seem to think that it was a problem.

Way back in 1985 I had a colonscopy and was told my colon was huge. I was MO, perhaps eating big quanties of food creates excess waste and makes the large (waste) intestine larger. Plus my parents trained me to not use public bathrooms for number 2:( This maty have contribuited to me big intestine.

Just wanted to say that I had a pelvic ultrasound done and they found a cyst on my right ovary which is causing a TON of pain and missed work....has anyone else had problems with this and what was the solution.....how odd that they would comment on how big your bowels are....you would think they would be smaller..I'd like to really find out why GB patients would have bigger ones...lol
