Question:
After letter has been sent to insurance, how long before you get an answer?
It seems like it has been several weeks now and I have not heard anything. Will I get a letter from the insurance co. or the Dr.'s office? Or what? — Amy C. (posted on August 16, 2004)

Most likely the doc will find out before you do. My doc called me the
moment they heard.

Amy, have you called your insurance company? I called mine to ask if they
had received the information from the doctor and if not if they had to mail
it or fax it. When they told me the doctor's office could fax it to their
attention, I called my rep back in the dr's office and I was approved the
next day. I think that's pretty fast, but sometimes a call to your
insurance to just follow up and make sure they have everything they need -
well it just might push the ball along a little faster.
Good luck on your journey. cJ

All carriers are different. And it can even be sporadic with a single
carrier. The best thing to do to get a rough idea would be to click on
"Insurers" above, and search for your carrier. You should find
plenty of people's experiences with your carrier. And it never hurts to be
the squeaky wheel with either the Dr. or the ins. co. Good luck!

Hi,
I don't know about your state, but in NY they must answer within 2 weeks
I think, or 30 days---can't remember for sure. I'd call the insurance
company to double check to see if they have the info they need. The
response usually goes to the Drs. office and they will call you. GOod
luck!!
