Question:
Diabetics Over 2 years post op - experiencing blood sugar spikes
I was wondering if anyone is experiencing temporary peaks when they eat a heavier than normal (more carbs) meal. Sometimes if we go out to eat, I will suddenly feel very tired, dizzy and I just have to stop what I am doing, go home because I am literally drained. I test my blood sugars and I will spike sometimes over 200 and then go back down within a period of a couple of hours. The symptoms may seem like a low but it is the oposite. My AIC was a little elevated 7.4 and doc did put me back on Glucophage to see if it helps me stay level. Just wondering if anyone that is diabetc and post op experiencing the same. Before surgery I had A1Cs over 12 and I was on insulin, I became totally diet controled by 3 months post op. I hate this reaction because I love to always be on the go and it puts a damper on things. — SARose61 (posted on July 12, 2004)
