Question:
After being 2 years post op, has anyone started having major problems with their peri

I have had alot of problems with my periods for about 6 months which would have put me at the 16 month mark. I have pretty much gotten to my goal. But after I have a period,i still bleed in between periods. I sarted on May 23, an havent stopped yet. I am seeing a doctor, but I was just wondering if loosing all of my wieght, could have something to do with it, like loosing alot of my estrogen along with the weight? I may have to have a hysterectomy. How will that effect my weight?    — Laura W. (posted on June 16, 2004)

For some reason after having WLS, I stopped having cramps. Then about six months after WLS I went on the patch. Everything was fine for a year, then I came on and never went off. I stopped using the patch, but my periods are now unpredictable and very heavy. A couple of times I was on my period for over a month. I had a sonogram and they found fibroids, but this doesn't explain why they are unpredictable. Prior to WLS, I never had a problem. I don't know if its related to WLS or not though. I'm two years and three months out, but my weight has been stable for about a year. I'm no longer on birth control. Trying to get my body to stablize.

Laura, I don't have any answers. Just a similar experience. I've been having break-through bleeding for about 6 months as well. I'm 14 months out and down 152 pounds. I just went off the pill, because dh just had his last specimen OKed after a vascetomy. I have an appt. scheduled w/ my ob/gyn next month. My plan is to wait 3 or 4 months and see if my cyle will straighten itself out. If not I guess I'll start the diagnostics process to figure out what's going on. Ironically my dh is an ob/gyn and doesn't really have an answer to what's going on. He just chalks it up to goofed-up hormones as a result of the weightloss. If you get a diagnosis and wouldn't mind sharing, please e-mail me at [email protected]. If you send me your e-mail address, I'll be happy to do the same. Best wishes!

All I can say is GOOD LUCK! I am 2 1/2 years out and have had nothing but a terrible time with mine. I wasn't ever "regular" but even through the patch and the nuva ring I would bleed for weeks on end. I have had every test imaginable and my GYN just did a D&C and histeroscopy 2 months ago (thinking it would help, even though the tests didn't show any "buildup"). I can say that I have had regular periods for both months since the surgery. The histeroscopy didn't show any evidence of any actual problems. My GYN has concluded that i'm just a mystery case. Who knows!

I to have been having break thru bleeding but I am only 26 with no children I am almost 17 months out and it happened 2 months in a row only during inter course then all of a sudden it stopped it has happened since but I hear all of this talk about historectomy (sp) I am too young for that and the worst part is that I am trying to concieve any information that any of you have would be very helpful since the thought of a historectomy scares the life out of me. Please email me at [email protected] with any information that you may have.
