Question:
I had a revision done January 20, 2004. I have had a lot of pain with this surgery
The pain is burning and is at the very top of my surgical scar. Yesterday, the np felt a hernia in that exact spot. I wonder if I always had this hernia from the moment the doc closed me up; maybe, he left a hole? Do hernia's always grow and generally need surgery in the future? Surgery is an option, I was told. Help? — Kathleen K. (posted on April 29, 2004)

My surgeon says at least 30% of opens get hernias, because the muscle wall
is cut. You will eventually need surgery to fix it. Preventing such
troubles is a excellent reason to choose LAP, where the incisional hernia
risk is near zero percent

I have a very large incisional hernia above my belly button. I did alot of
weight training after the surgery. As soon as I found out that I had a
hernia I stopped the weights but I do cardo - 70 minutes 4 times a week,
and am now on a 10 lb lifting restriction. I am supposed to lose more
weight then have the repair along with a tummy tuck....I have been on a
plateau for three months and its killing me! Watch what you lift and talk
to your doctor. I understand you dont ignore it. Best wishes
