I eat it all the time. I do the healthy Irish or Scottish oats (long cooking) a lot but I also keep packets of Quaker Instant in my office.

I eat oatmeal. I get the instant packs of the regular oatmeal. I put 3/4 scoop of whey protein (unflavored), 1/3 cup of powdered milk, 1/2 tsp brown sugar (less than 2g sugar) and add hot water. It is 25 g of protein. kristi ky 5-6-02 0pen rny 302 to 122

Im only 3 weeks out but I also enjoy oatmeal. I can eat not quite half of a bag of Quaker instant. I also make it w/ skim milk for added protein! Its nice on these cold winter days!

I eat the quaker instant often, however only the plain. all the other flavors are packed w/ sugar and I dump on them. (not my favorite way to start the day) I make it with milk instead of water for the protein, then make my own flavors, IE. I add a couple spoons of unsweetened applesauce & a srinkle of cinnamon & splenda. Or sugar free log cabin for maple flavor, etc. You can also add a couple spoons of non fat dry milk poweder for protein. I found I didn't like the whey protein mixed in.

The Qaker "nutrition for women" oatmeal has even more grams of sugar than the others. It has a little soy in it but I'd rather not have the sugar with my protein.

I also eat Quaker regular flavor instant oatmeal, almost every day. I make it with skim milk, don't add anything to it and love it. I am over a year out, so no problem with eating 1/2 cup of milk and packet of oatmeal. I was eating this from the third day after surgery when I was at home. I was in a hurry this morning and remembered to bring my milk to work, but I forgot my oatmeal! Wah!

If I eat oatmeal (which I love) in the morning I'm hungry all day since it is a carb. See how it affects you. Stay away from the "instant" packets though as they're more refined and closer to a "white" carb in terms of your insulin response.

I am three weeks out and my nutritionist lets me eat it although not the instant. She has me mix it with enriched milk (1 cup nonfat powdered milk mixed with 1 quart skim milk =18 grams of protein per cup). The protein helps offset the carb count of the oatmeal and brings down the glycemic index. I can only eat 1/4 cup at this time.
