Question:
Do men get tummy tucks?
I am almost eight months post op and have just about lost the amount of weight I wanted too. I am very happy with the results of WLS, but with the amount of weight I have lost I have that extra skin around my mid section that I wish would just vanish! I was wanting to know if many men get tummy tucks to take care of that problem of extra skin. I hope this is not a stupid question, so please forgive me. I hear a lot of women talking about this problem, but what about us men? — Gene F. (posted on January 8, 2004)

yes I was seeking a couple of procedures unfortunately I was denied. Be
careful when you ask a question a question like this. I posted a similar
request on the message board and got nothing but sarcasm and off topics
remarks from men included. Sorry to vent.

There is one man from my support group that I know of who's had a tummy
tuck, but I'm sure there are many more.

Hi--I see from your profile that you are from Bama, too. Here is a link
for a man in our support group in Birmingham who has had the panniculectomy
(hoped I spelled that one right). Contact him, I am sure he'd be glad to
answer all your questions. The link is

Hope this helps.

After losing all my weight (134 lbs) I had a belt lipectomy, which includes
a tummy tuck (panniculectomy), abdominoplasty AND lower body lift. Took
almost 6 hours on Dec 22nd. I am still healing. This one is no picnic, but
my best friend told me today that a few months down the road, I won't
remember it. Best words today. Good luck to you. If you want any additional
particulars, feel free to email at [email protected].

My father had a TT done, but his was a little early so he ended up having
it redone this year. Medicare paid for his and he seems happy with it. I
think that men are just like women in this case. There is nothing wrong
with a man wanting to look and feel his best after losing weight. I wish
you the best of luck! Just remember that you are still in the losing phase
and if you have the procedure done and lose more weight, your tummy will
probably start to sag again and you will be back to square one. Sincerely,
Mary Beth

Do you watch extreme makeover? Allot of men on there have had body
reconstructions, most recently a man who had lost over 200 pounds had a
total body reconstruction type deal. I say more power to ya!! Why not?
