I am freezing all of the time, I think that it is because we are losing so much body fat and at a fast rate, that we are losing that extra body heat. I am now 3 1/2 months post-op, and I, like you have been cold from the day after my surgery.

I have been the same way. I now even wake up freezing in the middle of the night and have to jump in a hot bath to warm up. Everyone around me complains I have everything too hot, when im still freezing. It's actually starting to feel like a problem for me. I'm not sure why!?! Good luck and I hope someone knows the answer :o)

When I started getting cold all the time I found out my iron was low. I still am cold...but, not as cold...and, I keep up with my iron! Check your iron and invest in sweaters (LOL!) Sometimes, I take a heating pad to bed to warm me up... it helps! Take care!

I too am 5 days post op. I too have periods where I feel real cold. I think this is because of all the fluids they pumped into me and being off food for so long. I remember feeling the same way when I was on the opti diet. I drank a lot of water. This seemed to bring on the chill. I really don't think it is a concern. Just budle up and it should pass. Check your temperature to be sure you don't have a fever. Hope your feeling better everyday. It seems I feel better everyday. Getting out of bed is next to impossible...otherwise things are better.

I asked my bariatric surgeon about this same thing and he said that it has to do with the decreased calorie intake and your metabolism being different. He told me it will get better and it has for me. I am 6+ months post op and do not get as frozen cold as I did when the weather changed back in early October (Chicago area for me). I was like you my whole body would freeze, but my hands would be really cold during the summer especially in air conditioning. It will get better.

Hi. Immediately after surgery I was freezing. I think for the first month there were times that I just couldn't get warm. My surgeon said it was normal following surgery. I think he said something about the anastesia, but I'm not sure. It will get better. Now I am 3 mos. post op and I'm colder than others but not freezing. Good Luck. : )

I froze for about two years. I'm 2.5 out now. I use to be a polar bear.... not anymore! However I don't sweat all the time and the summers are not as brutal as they were. As one other person said about the iron, that could be a problem to. I know anemia will make you cold. But I'm guessing it is because of all the "insulation" we've lost.

I was always hot, hot, hot pre-op! Now, I've lost 112 lbs in 6 months and I am freezing all of the time. I can't seem to regulate my temperature at all. I live in Vermont which makes matters worse. I just bundle up all of the time and bought extra mittens.

I have had this happen to me in the past when dieting, it's can be from a drastic reduction in calories. Which a few days after surgery, you for sure have really cut the amount of calories your're taking in. One thing that I found that really helped me when I had these cold spells was taking a Hot Shower.

Surgery typically makes ALL people cold, regardless of the type or your size. However, with WLS, odds are you're only going to get colder as time goes by and you lose that insulation :>) A small price to pay. ~Signed, A chilly, but happy gal

I was cold, constantly, the first 2 yrs after surgery. My body has now regulated itself and I find now that I am not quite as cold as I was 2 yrs ago. Congrats on surgery and I wish you all the best! Marni <3

Get used to it. As I'm typing this, I've got my space heater on under my desk. I'm over 2 years post-op and I'm ALWAYS freezing!!!!!!
