Question:
Seeking others starting at 5'4
Am concerned as my weight loss had been more eratic the past couple of months. 7 pounds one month, 12 the next. Anyone with my stats able to lose 145 pounds (my personal goal?) Worries me that I am also able to eat more, ie a small lean cuisine entree. I excercise like a demon and stick pretty close to my doctors plan. — katie E. (posted on November 24, 2003)

Katie- you don't say how far post op you are or what your start weight was.
However- I'll give you my stats... I am 5 feet 4 inches. I started at
306. I am almost exactly 1 year post op. I curently weigh 160, which is a
loss of 146 lbs to date. My goal is 156 (to be 1/2 what I used to be) I
fyou want to see some stats about what I lost when you can look at my
profile. I can't remember exactly. However, I was erratic and settled
into about 10 lbs a month for a little while. Being able to eat a small
lean cuisine in natural at about my length post op- depending on what it
is. I can eat one too. Good luck to you!

Katie, Iam about 10 months postop right now. Iam 5'4 also and my preop
weight was 294. Iam currently 159lbs. My weight loss has slowed down
some. That will happen when you hit the 6 or 7 month mark, but Iam still
losing. There are times where you will be able to eat more on one day than
another day. That still happens to me. For example, I went to Subway
about a month or so ago and I was able to eat about a half of a 6 inch
roast beef sub, no problem. A few days later, I did the same thing. I
only ate a few bites and I couldnt eat anymore. Dont know why that
happens, but it does. I havent had Lean Cuisine for quite sometime, but it
probably wouldnt surprise me if I could eat a small one. Dont worry,
you'll lose that weight! Good Luck!

I am not 5'4" but close. 5'3", I started at 275 and am 1 year
post op now. i made it to my doctors goal of 130.I can eat more now too but
then I am glad. If I had kept up at that small amounts I would end up
blowing away..my losses slowed down the last few months too. I had lost
almost 100 in the first 6 months then only 45 in the last 6 months. It
sounds like your doing fine and I am sure you'll make it.
dont worry, and ask santa for some size 6s

Thank you so much guys! Seems like I have to check in every once in a while
to make sure I'm making "normal" progress! Was having computer
trouble earlier, left out that I am almost six months out and approaching
100 pound loss...started at 284. Many thanks to you all.

I am 5'4" and started at 290, pretty close to your stats. I am a
little over 14 mo. out and have lost 154 lbs. My Dr.'s goal for me was
140 and my personal goal was 135 so I guess I'm there as I'm weighing in at
136 now. Like the previous poster said the amounts I can eat vary from day
to day. Some days I feel like I could eat anything not nailed down and
that's pretty much a couple of days before that time of the month. Other
than that I have days I can eat more than others. Just keep with the
protein first, then veggies then carbs if there's room and you'll be fine.
One important thing for me was to remember to keep plugging along
faithfully to the diet even when I plateaued. Knowing that if I was
faithful to the eating plan the weight would eventually start to come off
again and in fact it did. Hope this helps. Take care

Katie--you will reach your goal. A year ago, I started at 315, and at one
year post-op am 163. That's down 152 and I'm still losing. I've had
months when I would lose more than others, but remember to check your size.
When I didn't lose it in pounds, I lost it in inches. As I'm sure you
know, muscle weighs more than fat plus it's better for you. As hard as it
is, don't get discouraged. I can eat alot more than I used to (I can down
a lean cuisine, too). As long as you are doing your part (WHICH YOU
ARE!)feel good about yourself and what you have accomplished.
