Question:
I need happy ending stories of women who have gotten pregnant less than 1 year post
I am 5 months post op and I am pregnant. I feel great. I think I will do great with this pregnancy, but my doctor is concerned because I didn't wait til my 1 year anniversary. Just want some stories to know how others have done. Any advice. Besides vitamins, vitamins, vitamins! Thanks all! — Jennifer R. (posted on November 11, 2003)

Don't know anyone personally, but my nutritionist says that the baby takes
what it needs and you're the one that can suffer. You have to follow Dr.'s
orders to a T.

I'm with the previous poster. The baby will get what it needs. You might
want to find an OB who deals in high risk pregnancies just to be on the
safe side. Other than that, I think it would be just fine! You may lose
weight more slowly but from what I have read you will keep losing. Good
Luck and God bless! How exciting for you!

First let me say how happy I am for you. I too am hoping to have more
children after my surgery. I want to start as soon as the doctor tells me
I can. I would love to keep up with your story please keep us posted.
Congrats and I will say a prayer for you and your baby.

Hi Jen
I found out I was pregnant 12 weeks post op. My husband and I had tried for
5 years prior. I knew when I was ovulating and we planned our weekend
getaway the weekend before. I had had three normal cycles prior to becoming
pregnant so I thought we were okay. Well needless to say when I missed my
period and started becoming ill, I went to the doctor. He told me what the
home pregnancy test told me, except that I was pregnant with twins! I was
265 when I had wls. I became pregnant at 210 and gave birth weighing 230
and within 1 week of giving birth dropped to 190 and today am 168. My twins
(Sam & Savannah) were 6 months old on 11/9/03. I had a very healthy and
very monitored pregnancy. I had bloodwork drawn every month. I took one
prenatal vitamin and had ultrasounds every week for the first 4 months and
then every two weeks after to see that the babies were growing. The
ultrasounds were not because of the wls but because I was carrying twins! I
started see a perinatalogist when I was 5 months, again not because of the
wls but because I was carrying twins. I thoroughly enjoyed being pregnant
this time. I had a rough time 12 years ago with my first. I had a c-section
both times. My doctor, the specialist and I were all surprised at how
wonderful the pregnancy turned out to be, no complications whatsoever. As
long as you are being monitored, eating your protein and drinking lots of
water you should be fine. If you have any questions, please feel free to
email me. By the way, I was contacted by ObesityHelp and was asked to send
in pictures of me and the twins for their next magazine.

Lot's of women in your situation with healthy babies. I am currently 3

pregnant the month after my one year anniversary.
