Question:
What should my medic-alert bracelet say?
What should my medic-alert bracelet say? I am thinking of ordering a nice bracelet. I am concerned about medics putting one of those tubes down my throat and into my stomach in an emergency situation. — eprise616 (posted on September 13, 2003)

Mine says, "Gastric Bypass. Do Not Blindly Place N/G Tube. Use
Endoscopy."

The card in my wallet says NO NG WITHOUT ENDOSCOPE then in smaller letters
under that GASTRIC BYPASS PATIENT.

I ordered one from 911med411 on the web, got the child's as it was a nicer
shape. Mine says my "real" name on front "The Princess"
:), then on the back my full name, then
RNY 8/19/03
No NG Tube W/O scope
Dr. Mary Estakari, CA
then my medicine allergy. I got it all for about $20, although I am still
searching for a nice chain part as the chain isn't as shiny as I would like
it, there are some really nice places out there that make really good
quality beaded bracelets for these id tags. Good luck!

hiya~ you can put:
Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass No Blind NG Tube
also: put your doctor's phone number on it
your name and date of birth
any allergies; any medications you take
i couldn't find one with enough room so i ordered two from
www.battlezone.com and they are like "dog tags" from the military
but are red. they were inexpensive and shipped quickly.
good luck,

All of the suggestions here are great but I want you to know the one big
plus with getting an original Medic Alert bracelet/necklace is that you can
have extra conditions/allergies added onto a card for your wallet and they
also keep a copy on file at that headquarters and in an emergency, the
first responders will call their number and find out "all" of
your medical info. I have way too many drug allergies to have them listed
on one bracelet. You can also update your file whenever needed.

THIS IS S GREAT QUESTION, I PUT A STICKER ON THE BACK OF MY LICENCE
"GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY", IF YOU ARE IN A ACCICDENT
THE FIRST THING THE EMERGENCY TEAM DOES IS LOOK AT YOUR LICENSE...BEST OF
LUCK

Hi...Mine says "Gastric Bypass, No NG" and the card I carry in my
wallet goes into more detail "RNY Gastric Bypass, No blind NG, use
Endoscopy". BTW...I didn't purchase a traditional MA bracelet. I
bought a strong gold link bracelet (like a curb link) and then purchased a
MA charm and had the ring for the charm soldered onto the bracelet. It
looks more like a bracelet than a medic alert, which I like, because in my
previous dealings with people, they tend to treat you differently, like
something is wrong with you, if they know you wear a medic alert bracelet.
There's nothing wrong with wearing a regular one, I just chose this route
for myself. Good luck! Denise 316/155
