Question:
How long was it before you noticed the pain going away?
I am having my lap rny done next Thursday (only a week away - I can't believe it!!!). I was wondering how long it was before you noticed that daily life starts to hurt less. I can't even stand in the shower for 10 minutes without my feet hurting badly. Can anyone recall when they noticed that it doesn't hurt your feet and joints to walk anymore and when, in a sense because of that, they felt like a "normal" person? My MAIN reason for having surgery was arthritis. You will more than likely
be on an all liquid diet the first two weeks after surgery... and you lose
quite a bit of weight right away... or at least I did. I could not stand
in the shower long because of my back and it seems like the pain went away
RIGHT away! Once you have surgery you should not have to wait very long
for pain relief. It may not completely dissappear but every pound LESS on
you is a GIFT! God Bless you in your Journey!

Kristy, I have just been thinking about this since I had the 4-year
anniversary of my RNY yesterday. I talk about this some in my profile, too.
Basically, before wls I crawled to the bathroom every morning after I woke
up because it hurt too much to stand up. But when I hobbled into the
operating room for my RNY and climbed up on that table, it was LITERALLY
the last time I had that kind of arthritis pain. The bedrest and pain meds
while in the hospital, combined with the immediate weight loss, really
helped me out quickly. Everyone is different, but really, I couldn't
believe how fast it went away! Good luck to you. hugs,

I'm two weeks away from surgery (09/25) but have been working hard at
losing some weight beforehand so I've lost twenty pounds. Surprise, the
pain in my feet and ankles is virtually gone already. I've been wearing
normal shoes for about two weeks now, don't have to have the shoes with the
soft rubber soles anymore.

I had a Lap RNy 1 week ago and I can honestly say I feel great! I have lost
19 pounds and my life is so different. I have fibromyalgia but I haven't
felt a twinge of it since I left the Operating Room. I used to sleep in
late but now I am awake between 4:30 and 5:00am. I really would like to
sleep a bit longer but I won't complain! LOL You will do great! I am
enjoying life again!So will you! {{HUGS}}
