Question:
My surgery was 5/12. Two weeks ago I had a flare-up of my asthma and required
Prednisone. My apetite increased . I have been off this medication now for 3 days I find my self eating as I did before surgery. I think I messed up the band. I have no pain which I did have a few weeks ago if I ate something wrong or too much.I see my surgeon next week. I feel so bad.I would appreciate feedback. Maybe The Lap- Band was not the right surgery for me.Mary — Mary W. (posted on July 10, 2003)

Hi Mary,
I just want to encourage you! Just because your appitite increased dsn't
mean the band failed. It was caused by the medication. Just remember to
make healthy choices. It's okay if on those occasions your appetite has
increased. It matters what choices you're making to eat that goes with it.
Eat the protein instead of going for junk etc...Drink more, maybe that'll
help fill you. The prednisone is usually a 3 day thing and if it's not all
the time you should be fine. Maybe there's a better medication now that'll
work for you. Are you on a preventative for the asthma? Maybe that'll work
for you. Don't beat yourself up and hang in there.
