You will always have to watch calories and esp. carbs. The white ones are the worst.

Yes, at any stage, you will always have to watch the calories. It is still a game of calories in equals calories out. I'm not a carb counter but I try to limit the white carbs, and don't have white bread, pasta, rice, potato too often.

I have to. Now (at 20 months) more than ever. If I don't make good choices... protein first, no white flour, no white sugar, I can gain weight easily. That was a big revelation for me. I will never be able to throw caution to the wind and eat whatever I want.

Laura, I don't what the carbs, how-ever I do count all my calories, they are so right about Calories in, need to be Calories out........ I find that to be the easiest thing to track, and an added bonus is that I don't feel like there are any restrictions on what I eat, I don't feel deprived, I just account for everything that is consumed, and make sure that on any day I go over my set limit, I make sure I put in exercise to counter act it. Best of luck..

Unfortunately we do. Granted this isn't a "diet" like the ones pre-op. But it's not as easy to lose weight or keep it off as it is the first 6 months, or even first year or two. As you get further out, it can get harder. This is why you my often see 2 or 3 year post-ops gaining some weight. The good thing: I hear its easier to off again post-op than it was pre-op. I will usually eat 1300 calories a day, sometimes more, sometimes less, but usually exactly. I don't count fat and I don't count carbs per-say, but I make sure to eat less than 20grams per meal (and not EVERY meal has a carb either) SO it is still limited. Oh and I still get atleast 75grams protein a day. But I'm 1 year out and surpassed my goal within a year, and hope to stay this way. Goodluck to you :-)
