Question:
5 Months Post Op- Where can I get health insurance?
I have been declined for health insurance until I am 5 years post-op. I am only 14 months post-op (lost 160 lbs) I had been denied before for being too heavy, and now that I've done something about it I'm being denied again. — Ginger P. (posted on May 4, 2003)

Are you being denied from your health insurance through where you or your
husband work? Or are you trying to get a private policy?

If you're being denied, I assume it's an individual policy you're applying
for. I'm in the same boat. My employer allowed my group insurance policy
to be cancelled and I tried to get individual coverage and was told exactly
what you were. Not for 5 years. Ironic isn't it that when I tried to get
an individual policy when I was MO I was denied because I was MO and now
that I'm almost at goal, I still can't get insurance. The only way to do
it is through a group policy. I'm waiting for my employer to get around to
it. Very frustrating.
