Question:
Looking for the best recliner for Big Men
My sugery date is May 6th 03 and from what I've read its a must to have a recliner chair. At 6'3" and 500lbs (for now)I'm looking for a recliner built for me! I've gone through the standard recliner a few years ago, lasted a few months. I would think by now someone would manufacture one for guys and gals like me. — Jim J. (posted on April 24, 2003)

Try La-z-Boy. They have a chair built especially for bigger people. My dad
has one and LOVES it and he's large. They have a website, but it's not that
great. Might want to try your local decent furniture store. Good luck!

I can't speak about recliners. I personally found that they were too low to
get up out of without straining my stomach BEFORE surgery so after surgery
I knew it wouldn't work for me. So I called my insurance company and found
out what was needed to get a hospital bed for me to use at home while i
recouperated. Really was no big deal, just needed a phone call from my
surgeons office. It was delivered to my home and set up while I was in the
hospital. I used it all day as a chair and as my bed. I could use the hand
rails to help get myself out of the bed and never really needed assistance
after the 1st week or so. I was 528 lbs at my surgery date, so we are about
the same size. hope this helps. Best of all when I was ready to get out of
it they took it away. Open RNY 11-11-02 Down 130lbs

I got a Big Boy Recliner at Roomful Express in Greensburg Pa it is nice
and high and long and fit me good with room to spare and I was over 400. I
believe Sears here may also carry them.

My husband purchased a Lane Recliner that is wonderful. I would not have
made it Post OP without it. It was the only place I could sleep for weeks.
It is huge and very comfy. Easy to get in and out of. It even has steel
frame construction. It is made for larger sized people. I am only 5ft3
(started at 440 down to 380 in 7wks) and my sister calls me the
"Incredible Shrinking WOman" when I am in it. My husband is 6ft3
and gets lost in it also. We love it! My hubby says it is $700-$800 bucks
and has a lifetime warranty. We love it!!
