Question:
Is An Insurance "Request for more Information" a Good Sign?
My doctor sent a letter of approval to my insurance and they answered back saying "we are asking for more information". Does anyone think that this might be a good sign for approval? — Gene F. (posted on March 16, 2003)

I don't have a answer for you as I am in that same boat at the moment. I am
interested in hearing what you find out as well. I look at it as at least
we weren't denied so far. What information are they asking for? Mine is
wanting a dietitian consultation and a years report of being on a weight
program with the Doctor's documentation along with the medicine Phen Phen
that I took. I don't have a whole year on that so anything is up for grabs.
I just hope it goes my way. I feel that I have jinxed myself by talking
about it too much and getting my hopes up. I wish you luck.

They played that with me too. When I got the request for information, I
telephoned the insurance company and insisted upon speaking to the case
manager, who is a nurse. I asked her specifically and exactly what she
needed. I complied with the psychological and nutritional evaluation
requirements and all necessary forms. I faxed the papers to her
specifically and called every few days to inquire on the "status"
of things.
I am now five months out and down 92. The same will happen for you, I am
sure.

not necessarily. a request for more information means just that...they
need more information to determine if you meet their requirements. you
could look at it on a positive note actually and say that from what was
first submitted, they thought it necessary to request additional
information. (cause they could have denied it instead). =) Keep a positive
attitude, good luck!
