HOW EASY/HARD IS IT TO GET INSURANCE TO PAY FOR A TUMMY TUCK POSTOP?

The answer is, it depends. Some insurance won't cover it no matter what
and there probably isn't much you can do about that. However, if yours
does, the thing it wants to see is why it is medically necessary and not
cosmetic for you. Document ANY and ALL problems you are having because of
excess skin. If you have rashes and/or yeast infections due to excess
skin, call your PCP and, if possible, make at least one visit to him/her,
so that it will be noted in your medical chart. If you are having back
pain because of it, same thing. Some people have such a large panni, that
they have trouble walking because it interferes with their movements.
Anyway, medical necessity is a key to almost any insurance being willing to
cover any post-op plastic surgery.

My insurance made the WLS easier to qualify for in 2003, but they also
specifically excluded coverage of panniculectomies and abdominoplasties
related to weight loss surgery. Just depends on the insurance company abd
how they word things.
