Question:
Am I going to pop my staples at this rate?

I had surgery on September 25, 2002, and have lost 82 pounds so far, 50 pounds to goal. Well, last night I was hungry so I grabbed a Dole fruit bowl of pineapples. I was not paying too much attention and before I knew it, I had eaten all of the pineapples, and drank the juicethat was in there. I was full, but did not feel too full, as to cause dumping. When I looked at the package, I realized that it was 7 OZ. net. My stomach is to hold 4 oz. I have been up all night, worried. Am I going to pop my staples, or have I already if I could eat all of that?! This is my biggest concern with the surgery. Sometimes, Idon't eat when I'm hungry out of fear of popping. You are fine. A lot of that pineapple was liquid, which won't stay in your pouch long. The 7 oz may be weight, not volume. Your pouch will most likely stretch before you pop any staples. Usually there are several parallel lines of staples, anyway. The bigger soncern, I would think, would be all the fructose and calories, but I don't think it will physically hurt you. I think there was probably a lot of Vitamin C in there, and that is NOT a bad thing! Do listen to your body. If you are feeling true hungar, not head hungar - eat something. I am willing to bet most fat people have ignored true hungar as part of a diet, sometime in their life. You don't need to do that now. Perhaps that is what happened - you were truly hungry and when you did eat, you ate probably more than you should have.

If the pineapples was chewed very well ,the pinapple juice you drank after eating would probably washed the pineapples right through you. just as water does if you drink with a meal, We are told not to drink so our bodies can absorb some of the food and will will not get too hunrgy after eating , you will be ok just watch the sugar content in those canned fruits.

Well, just remember that your tummy holds 4 oz in SIZE, not weight, i doubt there was 4 oz in size in one of those little fruit bowls...don't worry, you're cool.

I eat the pineapple fruit bowls all the time. I've had a real craving for pineapple and it's always been my favorite fruit. Anyway, if you look at the package, it's probably packed in fruit juice without any added sugar. You'll be fine. I wouldn't eat a lot of them, but I do eat some veggies and fruit every day and that's one of my very favorites.
