Question:
Anyone out there who started at 5'6

I know that everyone loses at a different pace, but I would just like to know how quickly your sizes changed and how your surgery went and how large your scar is. Thanks!    — PJ M. (posted on January 9, 2003)

I am 5'6 and started at 289 pounds, My clothes sizes changed almost constantly after 2 mos. I currently wear a size 10 sometimes 12 jeans and a med blouse. At 14 mos I had lost 144 pounds and have maintained that loss since. I hope this helps.

I started at 5'6'' 296lbs on 9/25/02. I am currently down 75 lbs and loving every minute of it. My clothes started changing or should I say hanging at 2 months, but now at 4 months I'm down 2 full sizes with room to spare. I am however working out everyday (leslie sansone Walk away the Pounds). I hope this helps you out.

I'm sorry I responded to quickly. My scar is huge, but they say my anatomy is a little different (whatever that means). IT has started really turning the normal flesh color and not being as raised looking. My surgery went fine, but I have had a stricture (sp?) twice. That's not to bad, but I do find it is very difficult to get much over 500 calories each day. I haven't been able to get anywhere near the 600-800 I should be getting.

Hi! I'm almost 4 months out and am 5' 6.5". Anyway, I started at 396 and am currently down to 324! 72 pounds gone forever! My clothing sizes aren't changing drastically...yet...but thats because most of my weight is in my hips. I started in a 6x pants and now they are wearable but are absolutely huge. I currently wear a 4x pant that looks decent. I had open RNY and my scar is from my breastbone to my belly button. My surgery went great and have had absolutely no complications. Good luck and God bless!

I started at 5'5" 289 - size 26 jeans. Im 6 months postop and am now in a size 18 - (I could go for a 16 1/2 though.) My tops were 22/24 and now in a 14/16. My most dramatic change came somewhere in my 3rd month - I lost a whole pant size in 2 weeks.

Hi, I'm 5'5-1/2" and started at 279. I'm 4 months post op and have lost 65 lbs and gone from size 24 to 16, it has been averaging going down 1 size every 15 lbs or so. I am working out with weights 3x a week and doing between 35 and 50 minutes of cardio (recumbant bike and treadmill) 5-6 times/week. I'm one whole size smaller at my current weigh (214) than I ever was when I was this weight before, must be the consistent exercising. I had the lap rny, have 5 small wounds that are just starting to fade a little.

I started at 5'6" and 314 pounds. I was in a tight 28, my clothes started becoming noticeably large on me around two months. I am now in size 12 pants and a large top from the junior section, but will likely be a medium after PS. I am just short of eleven months out. I had an OPen RNY and my scar very fine, very faded, and less than 3 inches long, with the bottom of it starting about 3 inches above my belly button. Scars vary a lot from doc to doc.

I am 5'5" and started at 320. I am 10 months out as of January 12th and have lost 175lbs. I now weigh in at 145 :) and wear a size 10 pants and medium to large top. (I did not loose these huge boobs tho!!) I am still loosing, I just lost 3 lbs in the last week. I was hoping to stop for a while to work more on health and muscle tone, but it keeps coming off. My scar is pretty big, but I had alot of problems during and after surgery and the doc said my body just could not heal itself that well. But ya know what, that scar does not bother me at all. I love it. It is my war wound, my battle scar, for the battle I have won!! I wear it proudly as my badge of honor. I am so used to the dang thing I forget about it and have no trouble struttin around nekkid as a jay bird around my hubby :) hehe

I am exactly 9 months post op today surgery 4/10/02, started at 335 now am at 202.5...that's 132.5 pounds gone!! I had a revision from a gastric stapling done in 1992. I had open rny, my scar looks wonderful. Pre op, I was wearing 28's, uncomfortably I might add. Today, I wear a 18 or 16...no more elastic wasted stuff...I didn't do all this to keep wearing stretch pants!!! Tops, xlarge or large..it all depends. I can't wait to get out of the plus sizes for good. I carry most of my weight in my hips and butt so, maybe another 20 to 30 pounds. Good luck, you are doing great.
