Question:
What is the recovery time for a Tummy Tuck
Does anyone know how much time you need to take off work for a tummy tuck if you have a sedentary job.? — Annette R. (posted on December 26, 2002)

Annette, Each person recovers at different rates... I had a panniculectomy
on 12-12 and I was shopping at the mall on 12-14... I have recovered
awesomely... I do not work I am a stay at home mom of a 4 yr old and I have
been taking care of him just fine, I am just super careful not to do any
lifting or straining... The only somewhat bothersome thing about this is
the drains... I had two and it took a week and a half to get one out and I
am hoping to get the other one out tomarrow (two weeks)... Now it is my
understanding that if you have an abdomiplasty the recovery may be a bit
more lengthy, due to the muscles being tightened up... feel free to e me
personally if you have any questions...

I work in an office and I took off 3 weeks. However, I could have easily
went back to work at 2 weeks.

I had my surgery five weeks ago. I could probably have gone back at three
weeks, but would have waited four. I have just now begun moving normally at
the fourth week.

I am waiting for insurance approval for a panniculectomy and hernia repair
and my surgeon told me that I would probably be able to return to work
after one week. I am an administrative assistant and I can sit as much (or
walk as much) as I need during the work day. I was released to return to
work at 12 days with my RNY. I probably could have gone back sooner, but I
had my surgery in a town 3 hours from where I live and my surgeon had me
stay around town for a week after I was released from the hospital
(fortunately, I was able to stay with friends).
Good luck to you.
