Question:
Weird Sensation - Tongue

I am 3 wks post op and have a "dry" sensation on the back of my tongue. Any one else have this problem and did it ever go away?    — linda E. (posted on December 26, 2002)

Are you drinking enough water? I had that same problem and mine lasted about a month. Then I really started drinking lots of water and it went away. You might be dehydrated.

I had something similar where it felt like I had a piece of hair stuck on the back of my tounge. I went to an ENT doctor and he said it was nerve damage from the tubes used during surgery. It went away within a few weeks.

If you're still on pain meds, those can cause that sensation.
