Question:
protein shakes in the blender.
My surgeon suggest a blender for mixing the protein shakes. But at the same time they don't want you to intake alot of air. Like drinking out of a straw. This causes gas. If you use a blender to mix the shake it becomes frothie. Alot of air. Is this not a good idea. I have been mixing mine with a spoon. — joann B. (posted on December 1, 2002)

I have to mix my protein drinks with a blender otherwise it has yucky lumps
in it. As for the froth, if you let it sit for a few minutes it goes away.

Some protein powders mix well without the use of a blender. Go to Vitalady
and order some samples and experiment. I used to use a blender for my
shakes, but I got tired of hand-washing it three times a day (lazy, aren't
I?). So I bought a big plastic shaker cup with a lid at the health food
store and just shake my shakes. One thing you can do about the froth is
just let your shake sit for a minute or two before you drink it--you'll
notice that a lot of froth dissolves.

Most protein powders mix better in a blender. After it blends, just stir
it with a spoon for a minute or so. That helps to release the air and
"settle" the drink.

Hi:
I always mix my protein drinks in a blender. I am also permitted to drink
with a straw. I know some postops are not allowed to do this, but I never
had a problem. Hope this helps.

I use a hand blnder (stick type, like a Braun, but cheapo). Takes me all
of 30 seconds from gabbing the can to washing off the stick in hot water.
Atfer 30 days, O used a straw with it.

When I drank protein shakes I used a hand blender, then I would cover the
top of the glass and kind of "drop" the bottom on the counter a
bunch of times, the air bubbles would rise to the top and pop. I use to to
do this remove air bubbles from cakes and stuff when baking so that is what
made me think of it :)
