Before you make hotel plans, check to see if your hospital has a local
hospitality house. Mine did. I stayed there and had my own bedroom with a
lock on the door but shared the living room, bathroom and kicthen with
other patients. It was a great experience. Plus I paid only $10/nite vs.
what a hotel would cost. They even had laundry facilities for free. Best
wishes on your journey.

I was very fortunate to be able to stay in a hotel room which was like a
tiny apartment. It had a recliner which was an absolute blessing. It's
very hard to lay flat after the surgery. I couldn't get comfortable, so
was constantly shifting positions. Another thing you might want to look
for is a fridge with a freezer. Ice and popsicles are great foods to eat
afterwards. Also be sure to take a hot pot for making broth, tea, or
whatever. I also took a hand mixer for the protein drinks. Oh one more
thought, because I had complications and had to stay longer than planned,
it was handy to have a laundry in the hotel. Good Luck! Leigh
