HI Joann, I could not sleep and had to get my surgeon to prescribe a sleep medication. Also, I went on and on about my surgery so much right before it that I thought everyone was going to disown me! Good Luck!

I had a friend who took a mild dose of Ambien each day prior to surgery so she'd be well rested when her surgery day came. She was so exhausted from not being able to sleep that she was worried she would recover well. She did GREAT! Oh - and your surgery is on my birthday so I'll be sending well wishes your way!!! It will be our special day!

OMGosh - I am still a long way off (don't even have a date yet!)... but either I can't sleep because I'm excited, or I'm upset (if I've had setbacks with the process).... I don't know how I'll be when I actually DO have a date ;-) Good luck to you with your journey! Try and rest so that you are nice and rested when the time comes (yeah, easier said than done). My only suggestion would be to try and occupy yourself with other activities to let your mind focus on other things... that helps me.

I find myself still excited about this surgery even 6 months post-op. I could talk about it all day. As excited as you are now, just wait until you start dropping weight. Combine that with all of the people that will start complimenting you and your head will swim. I wish you well! - Mike

I saw this question and I knew it was YOU!!! *lol*....Gorl, I couldn't sleep well for almost 4 months before my surgery because I didn't know if I would be approved and even after I was, the excitement would overwelm me. I would lay in bed thinking how great it was going to be once I began losing, how bad I was going to feel for the first weeks and how I was going to handle not being able to eat what I wanted. I would lay there for a few hours and finally get up and on the computer to this website. I think I was actually obsessed.........Believe me dear, you are not alone. The waiting bites and in your case, you have waited for over 2 years! I'm amazed you are still sane.....*huge hugs* Love ya!!!..................Karen (lap rny- 9/20/02- down 73 pounds!)

Joann,I am right up here with you, it is about 3:45 AM. My date is Dec. 9. If my body could run like my thoughts in my head I would have it made! Good luck on your surgery. Soon we will be on THE OTHER SIDE! :) Mae

Hey I feel your pain--I am set for Dec. 11!!! Find myself drifting off all the time, thinking about how drastically my life is about to change. It's as bad as being pregnant the first time, or worse. I'll probably wreck my car over it, since I can't keep my mind off it lol.

Add me to the list!!! My date is Dec. 16 and it's all I think about. This is bad because I'm in college and I have to study. It seems that no matter what I'm doing, I keep getting drawn back to this site and the other online support groups I frequent. Then when I try to go to sleep - I lie there for HOURS thinking about what it's going to feel like, what people will think of me, all the clothes I have to buy, all the studying I haven't been doing..... You are so not alone!!

I know what you mean. My date is on the 16 of Dec, and I'm so nervous and excited that I can't get any sleep, I can't eat (it makes me sick at my stomach), and I'm losing more hair than usual. I just wish the day would come and go in a very big hurry, This entire year went by soo fast it seems like, but now It feels like it going by like a snail. But everyone gets nervous I am told so we should be all right.
