Question:
Question about Excess Skin
I was just wondering if anywone has a-tried this or b-knows if it would work or not...this may be stupid, but please don't be mean *smile* Someone was telling me about i think it's called muscle atrophy or something, where if a muscle is not getting used it will become stuck...well i was wondering if while losing weight if you wore some kind of tight girdle sort of thing on your stomach if the skin, since it's not sagging or anything if it will kind of absorb into itself or something. I know i'm gonna have a LOT of excess skin, and i'm afraid my insurance may not cover getting it removed. Anyway, thanks Amber — Amber F. (posted on June 9, 2002)

That's a very good question, let me know if you find out whether it works,I
have been using Nueva firming lotion, it is supposed to help put the
elasticity back into you skin, I am 49 years old so well see, I think I
might have to have tummy tuck as well, hope the insurance covers it:)

I'm really not sure what you are asking the way the question was worded,
but I will tell you what I do know. My daughter has atrophy in her right
leg and arm, which is muscle 'wasting' due from little or no use. The
muscle shrinks because it isn't being used. I'm not sure what you mean by
'stuck'. And I don't think that there is any relation to muscle atrophy
and the skins elasticity. If this is possible, I would hope that someone
had come up with this by now, if not, well, then you are a genius and I
will jump on the girdle bandwagon:~)

skin will not react the same a muscle,it has been stretched out it doesn't
have the same properties as muscle either the skin will go back some but
its like a rubber band that has lost its strength .so i'm afraid it will
not work by wearing a girdle and thinking it will all go back in place
