Question:
Will you still get a period after surgery using depo??
I have been reading where people get their periods during their stay in the hospital...is this true as well for depo users?? I don't have a period now, and wonder if I should take things to the hospital in case I do??? — Sandra T. (posted on March 19, 2002)

I've been on Depo for about three years and never had a period...when I was
in the hospital after surgery, still no period...after I had lost about 50
lbs...whoa! I had a period for what seemed like non-stop for 2 months!
Both my surgeon and gyno. said it was my body trying to get used to the
changes. It finally stopped, now I'm 13 months post op
(down 122 - yea!) and I only spot a couple of days before I'm due for my
next shot. Hope this helps...email me if you have any other questions!

I have been on depo for over 7 years and have never had a period. I was
lucky enough to have my surgery scheduled the week I was do for my shot
10/15/01. I did not get my shot until 4 weeks later and have no problems,
no period and no spotting. Make sure you check with your surgeon and your
gyno, they should definately have input.

I got my first depo shot 3 weeks after my RNY surgery. I have been spotting
mostly non stop for three months! I have been on Depo before (3 years ago)
and I never had a period. Go figure.
