Question:
Has anyone heard of an ointment called Medora? What else can be used to heal scar?

From what I've heard, it's fairly effective. I bought some at Walgreen's
(I just started using it for strechmarks) and it was rather expensive at
$27 per tube.

HI, I HAVE HEARD OF AN OINTMENT CALLED MEDERMA, IT IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOUR
SCAR LESS NOTICABLE, I ASKED MY PHARMACIST, HE SAID IT PROBABLY WOULD WORK
BUT VITAMIN E WOULD ALSO WORK, KEEPING IT MOIST IS VITAL ACCORDING TO HIM.

The medication is called Mederma. It is only effective on ridge like
scars. It is not very effective on gouges or stretch marks!

There is another product, I believe it is called NuSkin that you can by in
the pharmacy dept (no rx needed). It is silicone gel sheeting and is
supposed to be very effective. I do not know about the cost. I am sure a
pharmacist could assist you w/locating it and giving you more info. Good
luck.

I've been using a vit. E ointment I got at GNC for $1.50. It's done wonders
for my cuticles (I rub the extra into my hands), so at least it works on
that. I think it will take longer to affect my scar, but I'm hoping!

My angel has been using Mederma on her scar and it looks wonderful. I have
searched in every drug store and can never find it...I'll have to give
Walgreens a try. I'm a bit confused about the previous post that said it
cost $27 per tube, my friend said it cost her $7 a tube. Maybe it comes in
different sizes? I've heard mixed opinions on this site about the
effectivness of vitamin E, but it's so inexpensive that I don't think it
would hurt to try.

My surgeon advised me to use Vitamin E on it I just started yesterday it is
thick so you'll want to let it soak in before you dress. I'm just breaking
open the capsules since I already had them at home.

Mederma - usually have to ask the pharmacist, its usually kept behind the
counter. It does come in 2 sizes, and by far I found that it was cheapest
at Target, I think $12, and it goes a long way. I do think it helped, no
miracle, but I think it helped the color a lot.

I have been using Mederma for 7 weeks now, my scars look really pretty
good, and Mederma smells good too. My podiatrist actually told me it was
the best stuff on the market, when I had foot surgery last summer.

I bought some Mederma at Osco and it only came in one size. it was around
$15-17. I have only used it a few times...I keep forgetting! I need to
keep it out where I can see it, but I have 2 little ones and have to keep
it locked up. I have heard it gives good results though.

There is another product that reduces scarring enormously! It is called
"Visible Aid" and it is sold by a cosemetic/skin care company
called "Alouette". It is $13 per tube and made of only natural
ingredients. It actually is 95% aloe. I would not recommend it's use if
you are allergic to aloe. I will be having my surgery in late March 2002
and plan to use it. I have used it for scars on my knees and gall bladder
surgery scar and it looks amazing! Good luck with whatever you use.
Alouette has a website...type the company's name into the search engine. I
believe you can purchase it on-line or get in touch with a sales woman via
email. If not then email back to me directly at [email protected] and
I will put you in touch with someone directly!
