Question:
Has anyone had/heard about new banding procedure?
I am going to the dr/surgeon this week that does this procedure; wanted feed-back; thanks all. — kbush (posted on January 12, 2002)

Kathy,
If you are researching the Adjustable Lap Band there is a support group on
Yahoo called 'The Bandsters'.
You will find lots of support and information on this AMOS site but I find
the majority
support the RnY procedure. Both support groups are great. Here is the URL
to reach The Bandsters.

You cannot do enough research.
Good luck in your journey to a healthier lifestyle.

I was scheduled for the lap-band and changed my mind because I didn't like
the idea of a foreign object left in my abdomen for the rest of my life.
Also with the lap-band there is a port that is left just under the skin at
the bottom of the rib cage that the surgeon will access with a needle as
needed to inflate and deflate the silicone band. My experience with port
sites of other kinds is that they can stay irritated and/or leave you open
to possible infection. I also heard that the weight loss is not nearly as
good as with RNY. Check the "bandsters" website as the previous
poster mentioned and you'll find lots more info about it.
