Question:
I can eat 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and still be hungry, almost 5 months Post-op.
I am not sure if my hunger is all in my head or if 1/2 cup isn't enough. I'm so afraid that my pouch is stretched out. Anyone 5 months post op out there that has tried the cottage cheese test? How much can you eat? — Jonna M. (posted on January 8, 2002)

The cottage cheese test is not actually eating the cottage cheese, it is
bolting it down as much as you can, as fast as you can, till you are full
and can't eat another bite. Aside from that, 1/2 c. of cottage cheese, a
soft food, isn;t likely to keep many people over 2 months out full long.
Eat real food, slowly, well chewed, until you are full. *That* is our new
sensible diet plan.

More than 1/2 cup. I will try it tonight and report back in. My surgery was
July 23rd. Pouch stretching is NORMAL, and overated as a problem.
Malabsorbtion helps usa to keep the weight off.

I am almost 5 mos out and keep certainly eat more than 1/2 cup. I had open
RNY and depending on the consistency of the food, and the mood of my
stomach, I can eat a cup, sometimes about a cup and 1/2 depending on what
it is.

I am 3 weeks post op and can eat 1/2 to 3/4 Cup of cottage cheese. I was
worried and called my BTC nutritionist who said it was perfectly fine.
Cottage cheese is soft and kinda liquidy...not too heavy...so I think that
makes a difference.
