Has anyone ever self paid to have surgery with Dr. Schechner?

I am a patient of Dr. Schechner's. I had surgery on January, 10, 2002. I am also self paying. I had to pay everything up front. $9990 to the hospital, $4000 to the surgeon, and about $2000 in various pain meds, anethesia, radiology, etc. I took out a home equity loan, you can take the interest off at tax time. I hope to also be partially reimbursed by claiming a medical exemption. All in all it was about $17,000, but I would do it all over again. I have lost 95 lbs. now after 5 months.
