Hi, my surgery is Dec 18th, 01 just a couple of weeks away and I am trying to get as much prepared as possible...What type of minerials and vitamines should I purchase and where should I go to get them? Also, what types of food should I buy? I know that I will be mostly on liquids, so what should I stock up on? and finally, what type of shakes should i get to get the most protien as possible? any other suggestions for preparation as well is welcomed thanx! — Deanna Wise (posted on December 1, 2001)

Broth, chewable flinstones vitamins, bottled water (if you want...I prefer
bottled water), sugar free kool-aid, Crystal Light (any flavor), diet sodas
(as permitted).
I stocked up and I really shouldn't have. Really, water will be your week.
But, just having maybe 2 cans of soup and one bottle of crystal light
should be ample. You'll be amazed to see how little you can actually take
in post-op. NO need to overstock. good luck on your surgery.

What I liked the most was Cambell's chicken soup. There is a little
chicken in it but not enough to where you can't eat around it. Another
thing that help alot the first week and even at 3 weeks is sugar free
popsicles. yummy
As far a protein drinks, I don't tolerate them well. You can get some
samples from vitalady.com. Make sure you drink the water because you will
get constipated.

change. I LIKE bottled water but initially post op it tasted so bad it
would make me throw up. Broith yas YUCKY too...
