Question:
I have a high Ferritin level..may be hemochromatosis..
I am still preop and went to an internist today to get medical clearance for surgery. I have many co morbs and my surgeon will not operate without this. I found out today that my ferritin level was in the 300's. The norm for women is a high of only 150, so I have double the high norm.Has anyone else had this condition and still had surgery? She also wants me to have a thallium stress test to make sure I have no blockages. She was quite concerned because my cholesterol and triglycerides were so high. I am only 43, and the longer I wait to have this surgery the more things are going wrong with my body ..especially my liver. — garyzgurl (posted on November 27, 2001)
