Question:
Has anyone been diagnosed with nuropothy in their legs after surgery?
Usually, only AIDS patients or diabetics get this terrible issue. I have it in both legs from my knees to my ankles. Anyone else like that? — [Anonymous] (posted on November 16, 2001)

I don't know who told you that only AIDS patients or diabetics get
nuropothy but it's not true. disease of nervous system: a disease or
disorder, especially a degenerative one, that affects the nervous system
That's what it is. You my have been tied to the operating table a little to
tight and the nervis in your legs my have been dameged they do grow back it
takes about a year. that's what happened to me. I'm not saying you don't
have nuropothy if you DR. says you do then most likey you do. Just wanted
to let you know the info I have. Good luck.

What are the symptoms of neuropathy? I have had some burning in my calves
since surgery at night. Sometimes it wakes me up. Thanks for any info!

Not only AIDs patients have that problem. It is a common problem for MS
patients also. If your doc says that is what you have and has'nt given you
a reason possibly you should see a neurologist if it continues.

I have had Periphral Neuropathy in my hands, arms and now moving to my legs
for a couple years. It is a mmisconception that only Aids patients get
Neuropathy. I am not diabetic nor do I have Aids. I have the PN due to
surgeries trying to correct Carpal Tunnel. Sometimes surgery causes
Neuropathy. There are alot of sites out there that can help with info on
this. It is a very painful condition.
