Question:
I had to have an endoscopy done this wk to stretch my stoma.
I had terrible vomitting for 10 hrs and pain in my pouch, from the stoma closing and a piece of meat getting stuck. I tried the meat tenderizer and threw it up. Went to the nearest ER and they gave phergan and I kept vomitting for hours, once the vomitting quite, my daughter took me to see my surgeon it was a 6 hr drive to have the endoscopy. I'm so afraid of it closing again. That was an awful painful experience. Has anyone had to have it done just "once". — Julia M. (posted on November 15, 2001)

I only had to have this done once. I had a similar experience, had the
scope, and all has been well. Good luck.

Hi Julia...I was scoped at 4 1/2 weeks and have had no problems at
all....actually my only problem now is that I can eat TOO WELL..:) But my
surgeon did tell me that since I did develope scar tissue at the stoma that
quick that there always is a possibility that it could happen again, NOT
LIKELY, but the possibility is always there. But so far so good and I am
going on the faith that I am fine now and probably won't have to go through
this again. He fixed me TOO WELL....take care and relax...you're probably
gonna be just fine...just concentrate on the NEW YOU !!!!!
