Question:
Is there a reversal to this procedure?
I am a month pre opt and I have been threw a lot and can't keep anything down at all. I have to go again and get a scope done and my doctor said I may have to go 4 more times . I don't think that is good cause it can rupture . So I really need to know if there is a reversal to this prcedure! — [Anonymous] (posted on November 11, 2001)

My Doc said he dont do anything that he can't reverse, like for example
taking out any of the body parts. Just hang in there, I have read a TON of
profiles, and lots of people have had problems. The main thing is to stick
woth your Doc, and he/she will work you through. Good Luck :)

I know what you are going thru seems like it will never end. Im sure you
really dont want it reveresed. Just give it time and things will work out.
Once the weight starts falling off you will be glad you did. Just wait
until this summer when you are strutin' your stuff in that bikini...Good
Luck

You didnt say what procedure you had.. so cant be of much help.. I replied
earlier and said that I had open RNY with transection and could be
reversed. I should have added that although I can be reversed, it is a very
risky procedure, and that I wouldnt want to be reversed even though I have
experienced constant nausea/ vomiting for 11 months, had a staple line
disruption with marginal ulcers that perforated, causing peritonitis, and
spreading to the underside of my liver, had a revision surgery to save my
life, had my stoma close or narrow .. had to be dilated twice after
revision ,... in May and Aug, and due to continued nausea/ vomiting,
underwent two more endos.. had a small bowel obstruction just below stoma
that was opened and dilated with endoscope and balloon and discovered that
I have a gastric pouch that doesnt have the ability to move food as it
should.. If anyone should want a reversal, it should be me.. and I am not
regretting for one moment that I had this surgery. I would still have
surgery.. If you are vomiting, get an endoscopy and see if just your stoma
has narrowed.. fixed very easily and quickly..
