Did you check this site under "Find a Doc?" Many people have to travel to get the procedure they want. Go to the website that lists bariatric surgeons..I think it is the Society of Bariatric Surgeons and search that way. They are listed by state and list phone numbers. Then you need to cross-reference your insurance manual to see who i in your insurance network or just give them a phone call to see. My surgeon was not listed on the AMOS website when I first began this process, yet now he is so they are not all listed here. Good luck in your journey.

Hi...I've seen both of these VA docs...Schirmer does the lap band; Elariny doesn't yet...Elariny does DS, Schirmer doesn't. Both are good surgeons. VBG and lap band are not the same...both surgeons have done VBG, I think, and Schirmer will rarely do it anymore due to its fairly low long-term success rate, he told me. Best Wishes...JM
