Question:
What foods are good to mix Avapro (BP med) with to take the nasty bitter taste out?
I have to take my Avapro once a day for my blood pressure (hopefully not for the rest of my life) and I almost gag when I try to take it mixed in something. I have tried: applesause, Choc. pudding and yogurt. I sat at the dinner table and almost cried last night cause I knew I had to eat the pudding with the Avapro in it. Does anyone have any suggestions. The compounding shop will charge me $85/mo to liquify it and I just can not afford that. Thanks for any suggestions. — Laura M. (posted on August 14, 2001)

I really can't figure out what you're talking about. I've taken Avapro from
8 years and it's just like any other pill. Maybe you're taking something
I'm not. I take both Avapro and Synthroid and just take them in one
swallow. I do break the Avapro in half because they're rather large, but
what taste do they have?? Don't leave it in your mouth long enough to taste
it.

Right after surgery, I crushed mine into a real fine powder using a mortar
and pestle. I then put it in the small cups of unsweetened applesauce and
it wasn't too bad. I was able to swallow them at about 6 wks post op. Do
you take a diuretic with it? I take HCZT and I would crush them together.
Good luck! By the way, my BP meds are now at 1/2
dosage since surgery.

I take Avapro, as well. I am 8 days post-op and just cut my pill in half
and take it with water. Hope this help, Kay

I have to take Lotrel right now. It is in capsule form and taste absolutely
AWFUL. I haven't found anything to mix with it either. It is all I can do
to get it down. Just keep looking I guess.
