Question:
Am I going stone cold crazy?
Please... someone tell me I'm not going crazy. I weighed over 500 lbs before surgery. Now that I've dropped over 150 lbs, I have been buying clothes through Lane Bryant and Catherine's. Catherine's is having a gigantic sale and I found several pieces of clothes for over $200 for only $80. I'm so acccustomed to paying 75+ for a single dress and I could not afford to buy many clothes. Those are the prices you pay when you have to order from speciality shops when you can't wear items from LB and other plus size stores. But why do I feel so guilty for buying something I totally deserve? I did not feel this way 15 years ago before I gained so much weight. I've even spruced up my hair color, painted my toe nails and now wearing a toe ring with open toe shoes(LOL). Something totally out of character for me.=o) — Jan M. (posted on July 21, 2001)

I loved this question! Isn't shopping fun when the clothes actually fit?
I think you should indulge yourself. Manicures, hairdo's, make over's,
even facials, if you can afford them (that's a luxury item for me)...who
deserves it more than you? or has waited longer than you to treat herself?
When I was fat I thought I didn't deserve pretty things...and I too, felt
guilty spending money on clothes. I started shopping in the discount
stores. We have many good ones in my neighborhood, including the Saks
Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom outlets...and boy is it fun to get the really
good stuff ceap cheap cheap! I don't feel guilty...shoot I come home with
five or six outfits for about $100...and I always have something great to
put on now. The only warning I would offer is that you are certain to lose
many more sizes and will have to toss the bigger clothes as you continue to
lose weight. Oh well. Give it to Goodwill and take it off your taxes.
Remember...shopping is a sport and takes practice to develop real skill!!
Enjoy your new body and have a wonderful time. You deserve it.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Just a thought - maybe you feel guilty
about spending money on clothes you're not going to be wearing very long. I
know I hated to spend money on clothes and then zoom right through that
size. I recently donated a bunch of clothes that I never even wore because
I had bought them on Ebay and by the time I got them they were too big.

NO you are not crazy....unless it's crazy with fun...but you know I read
all the questions and I never see anyone saying that they took the clothes
in????Doesn't anyone sew anymore?? well any way i get another size out of
the nes clothes I buy because as i go down i take them in under the
arms....now i don't go crazy with it i just take in a couple inches and
wala..i get more wear out of them....good luck and HAVE FUN!!
