Question:
Has anyone used Jergens Skin Firming Lotion to prevent sagging skin?
Or any other kind of similar lotion that firms the skin? Do they really work? I'm applying the Jergens to my double chin area, my batwing arm area, my boobs, my inner thighs and my apron area. I'd apply it to my butt too but I can't reach it comfortably :-) Anyway, am I wasting my time & money? Or if it has worked for anyone, how many applications do you put on a day? LOL! I'll drown myself in it if I have to!!! I'm 6 weeks post-op (open distal RNY) and lost 54lbs. so far. My double chin is deflating & starting to hang. Are there any exercises that help to firm that area? Thanks in advance for any answers, and hope you're all having a great 4th of July today! — lalasmommy (posted on July 4, 2001)

According to www.epinions.com Jergens Skin Firming Lotion is used for mild
to moderate dimpling of the skin from cellulite. It says nothing about
using it for sagging skin. I can't imagine any product helping with
sagging, extra skin. I can see a product plumping up a cellulite dimple to
make it even with the rest of the surrounding skin temporarily. But no
product is going to do this permanently, even for cellulite, since
cellulite has to do with connective tissue under the skin. The epinions
website did say it was a good moisturizer, though. Hugs, Joy

The reason your skin starts to sag is because it
has been stretched. Putting topical lotions on your
skin has no effect at all on this. You can help only by
exercise and firming and toning the muscles underneath the skin as much as
possible. Depending on your age and the amount of weight you lose, you most
likely can only take care of the loose skin with plastic surgery.
If there WAS a CREAM out there that would do this for you, everybody in the
world would own a gallon, doctors would be prescribing it, and it would be
costly as gold!

I have used skin firming lotion and it has made some difference. The key
is to use it for a long period of time very regularly. Some products
suggest up to 8 weeks of use before results are apparent, but hey it took a
long time for the skin to stretch so it will take a long time to go back.
I used to have very red stretch marks and now they have completely turned
skin color and are far less severe. I am still pre-op. I think lotion
will keep your skin looking better regardless. Water and exercise along
with the skin firming lotion and exfoliating may be helpful in the long
term. Don't expect miracles, but my skin is definetly tighter in my upper
arms and my breasts mostly as well as the rest of my body. Hope this helps!
Good luck with everything :-)

Hi, I don't think that there is a cream that prevents sagging. I do know
of cellulite creams that help the appearance of the skin, but if there was
a cream that stopped of prevented sagging, I would bathe in it hehehe!!!
