I am from Charlotte,NC Please provide any input about a competent, caring surgeon in

Hi Christy, There is a wonderful database with surgeons on this site! Go to the top of any page and click on "find a doc", then click on "browse the list". If you then click on the state(s) you are interested in researching, you will get a list of surgeons in that state that perform WLS. If you click on "view comments", you will see a section of insurances that have approved surgeries done by this surgeon. Scroll down and you will then see a section of members' comments about this surgeon along with that member's e-mail address. Reading these comments helped me choose my wonderful surgeon. Dr. J. Kenneth Champion of Atlanta, GA....www.drchampion.com.....office # (770)425-5525. Dr. Champion is one of the pioneers of laparascopic WLS and is internationally renowned for his expertise in this area. I, and 3 other members of my family, have had lap RNY surgery without complications or problems....2 day hospitalization, no ICU, no tubes, no drains, no external sutures or staples. We are from western NC. There are, of course, a large number of patients concentrated in the southeastern states, but patients fly in from all over the US and Canada for his services. My surgeon was out of Pinehurst, North Carolina. I feel he is the most wonderful man in the world. I have had nothing but positive experiences with him and his staff. He is bases at the Pinehurst Surgical Clinic and their toll free number is 1-800-755-2500. His name is Dr. Kenneth Mitchell. You will love him, I promise. It is about a two hour drive from Charlotte.
