Question:
Has anyone with hepititus-C has had WLS....if so, what surgeon?

Hi, I live in the Detroit metro area. I also have Hepatitis C. At first I was afraid to tell my surgeon about having hepatitis, for fear that they wouldn't do the surgery. Her name is Anne Ledgerwood. In the end I decided that it was something that they needed to know, because of it being contagious. My PCP said he thought that it might be a determining factor in having the surgery. But when I told Dr. Ledgerwood about it, she said that it would not affect her decision one way or the other. I really believe that this one of those things that must be told because of the risk factors to other people. I wouldn't fret to much about it. I know that I did and in the end it did not seem to matter one way or the other. It is something that is important and your doctor needs to know so that when they operate they will be able to take the proper precautions for you and them. I really did wrestle with the idea of not telling but in the end my conscious won out. Good luck on your journey.
