Question:
Is it normal to get a pain in the head while doing Body Flex exercises?
Body Flex are deep breathing exercises where you take in a deep breath then exhale real hard, then hold it while sucking in your stomach. Anyway, there's one extra step where while you're holding your breath with your stomach sucked in, you turn your face upward to stretch & tone the double chin area. Well when I do this part, I get a pain that shoots to my head; like a severe headachy pain. Has anyone else had this happen? Any explanation as to what causes that? — lalasmommy (posted on May 18, 2001)

I don't know for sure, but I'd think it either has something to do with
hiperventilating or the movement may be triggering a disk problem you
didn't know you had. Some folks walk around with back problems and don't
even realize it. I get those burning pains in my head every now and then if
I bend down or turn to quickly. Slow down the breathing part some, along
with the movement. You should not be jerking at all when doing these
exercises.
