I was on Prozac when I had my surgery. I was given liquid form for the first month. It was very nasty--burns a lot--but it worked. Check with your doctor and see if he/she wants you to take the liquid. Best of luck. Donna WV

I had liquid prozac while in the hospital and for a few weeks when I got out. The pills actually dissolve very well and i know of one person who one week post op started taking her 80 ml a day in pill form. The liquid does taste pertty bad but I found hiding it in my Carafate or mixing it half and half with a little protein shake helped it go down easier.

I also was taking Prozac at the time of surgery. I was able to take it in the pill form as soon as I left the hospital. One thing that worked for me was that I drank a lot of Chamomile tea. The warmth helped everything relax to accept the pills easier. There is no caffein (SP) and it really helped me the first month. I still use it now at 4 months. Best of luck

I had the surgery about 6 mo. ago and also take 2 20 mg tablets a day. I have had no real trouble taking pills as long as my pouch is empty.

I am going for surgery tomorrow and I asked my PCP to write a perscription for me for liquid Prozac since my pills were running out a week before surgery. I take 40 gm a day and the 2 teaspoons of liquid is not as bad as the taste of the capsules opened up! The taste is minty, so I pretend it is cough syrup and my head stops telling me it is gross. It is available from regular pharmacies if you have the perscription written for liquid specifically.
