Will surgeons consider doing a weight loss surgery on patients with Crohn's disease?

My best guess would be that you couldn't have any type of bypass surgery,
but i don't see why they couldn't do a vbg.As i said this is my best guess.
good luck!

I was told by a gastroenterolgist that ANY inflammatory bowel disease would
exclude me from surgery. I had to get clearance because I have irritable
bowel syndrome. You should check with your doctor to be sure.

I had been diagnosed with Chrons at age 13, and I am 32 yrs old, I had open
Rny, four months ago, the reason I was able to have the surgery was my
disease or inflamation of the colon, over all these years had confined
itself to the last few inches above my rectum and never had moved, and my
last colonscope and pathologist report from that came back, probable
colitis. So, everyones case would be different, is it true Crohns, or
ulcerative colitis? Get more than one WLS surgeons opinion and more than
one Gastroenteroligist's opinion.
