Obesity is not necessarily a pre-existing condition - a pre-existing
condition is a condition in which you have been treated for (ie - visits to
the doctor specifically for that reason or taking medication) - within a
certain time period prior to comming on with your new insurance carrier.
a good example of a pre-existing condition would be like hypertension -
which you had been taking medication for maybe the three months prior to
your effective date of you new policy.......(check your plan for their time
limits).
Like the post below - there is a federal law that limits pre-existing
condition if you are switching insurance ro jobs.
