Question:
what could be causing a metalic taste in mouth
I know this question has been addressed in the past but I need to ask for myself. Is this taste caused by a nutritional defeciency or could it be the multivitiman I'm taking? — Jan M. (posted on March 1, 2001)

I have always heard that ketosis can cause a metallic taste in the mouth.
Ketosis is caused by the overproduction by the body of ketones. I believe
this happens when you go onto a high protein diet and it's also associated
with starvation.
If you recently had surgery..your body may be experiencing both. You should
ask your doctor about it however.

I had the same taste and finally came to the conclusion that it was my
vitamin (perhaps the iron in it). It would really be evident when I would
drink ice tea.

Terri: So interesting. I noticed this too after I started taking iron
pills (Chromagen Forte - a liquid iron in a capsule which is supposed to be
more readily absorbed). It's not really a metallic taste in my mouth as
much as a metallic 'feeling' coming from my stomach.... does that make ANY
SENSE? LOL It isn't overwhelming, but I did notice it after taking the
iron pills for a few days. All the best, ([email protected]),

I get it after I chew my chewable vitamins with iron:)
