Question:
When should I start to get my referrals for the surgeon appointment?
I have my first appt with Jeannie on May 8,2001 I have an appt with my PCP on March 2,2001. I have talked to my Dr. about WLS and she agreed too that it may be a good choice for me. Now to the question should I ask her to send the info to Dr.Aslam office on March 2 or what until I see Jeannie.I just don't want to slow down the process if I can speed it up. I am ready to go now. Thanks. — Pamela S. (posted on February 25, 2001)

Most referrals have an expiration date. Speak with your PCP and find out
what and when they recommend. I always gave advance notice of what and when
I needed the referral by. I would then arrange to pick up a day or two
before the appointment. This way, in case additional visits are needed they
are usually still covered under the original referral(provided the number
of visits they allowed).
