Question:
Can I take Unisom?

I take Unisom a few times a week. If I stop taking it now (surgery in 10 days) will I be ok, or is that enough time stopped or does it matter? Thanks!    — Tina C. (posted on January 14, 2001)

I think you should speak to your surgeon, but my doc allows tlyneol pm after surgery!

I wouldn't imagine it matters much. The active "sleepy" ingredient in Unisom and Tylenol PM is just Benadryl plain or good old-fashioned diphenhydramine. Other than drying up your nose it shouldn't do anything that jeopardizes your surgery. BTW the reason it's used for sleep is because drowsiness it the principal side effect.
