Question:
Im postop and have an embarassing problem of stomach grumbling etc after eating.
Sometimes when I eat my stomach rumbles for some time afterwards and I go thru a period in which excess air comes up from my stomach and escapes quite noisily thru my mouth. Though this doesnt seem to be a health concern, it is quite embarassing when I am in a quiet room or trying to talk to someone or lying in bed. I was hoping the problem would correct itself in time but it only seems to be getting worse. Is there anyone else out there who has had this problem? Will it ever go away? How do I deal with this for the rest of my life? If I eat right before bed it keeps me awake. — [Anonymous] (posted on December 19, 2000)

Hi there, I think I have the same problem as you. My noises sound like
grumbling in the back of my throat and sometimes about mid way down. I
noticed it happens more frequently if I eat too much or too fast. Otherwise
it just kind of comes and goes when it wants to. I have no idea what it is.
But I do know the doc said it was nothing to be concerned about. Maybe you
should inquire about it with your doctor.

I'm ten months postop and my stomach rumbles and grumbles everytime I eat a
meal. Don't know why, just sounds like a freight train running fullblast
through town (smile). It is embarassing, because anyone sitting anywhere
near me can hear it. I just smile and go on doing what I'm doing.

I wish I had a magic answer to make this go away, but I don't. I just
wanted to let you kow that you are not alone! I am 10 months post-op and
the same thing happens to me. I gurgle and boil and rumble. It can be
very embarrassing, but it's a small price to pay. Good luck...
